Safety In The Domestic Kitchen - Food Technology 

Note: There will be a quiz next week on hand washing, kitchen safety and dishwashing protocol! (which we covered last class). 

Remainder of Class - For Project:

Your lab group will be assigned a Kitchen Safety item/aspect to focus upon for your lab group project for today. Please stay in your lab groups as assigned last class. A-F 

Any - new students - select a group with less than 4 max per group.

Each lab group will focus on a different topic as listed below. 

Lab Groups: You will create a poster on the below topics as listed.

Station A - Hygiene - Kitchen Basics: ALL basic Hygiene Methodologies re: prepping to work in a kitchen.

Station B - Hand Washing: Progression of how to wash hands.

Station C- Kitchen Fires: What type of fire? All types? Progression? Focus on more than one type of fire and appropriate method of putting that type of fire out.

Station D- Knife Safety: How to wash & store knives safely. How to move around the kitchen with a knife safely and pass a knife safely.

Station F- Scalds, Burns - How to treat these and Lifting Items Out Of The Oven - How to do this safely. 

Station E - Allergy Safety and Awareness (Taylor EA you will need to research on google for this info as this info was not covered on the video)

You will be using paper and markers as provided by the TTOC. All required materials will be on the TTOC desk. 

Lab Groups - You have the remainder of class to complete your assignment on the poster paper provided. Please create a colourful and information filled posted. Please ensure all group names are on the back of your poster before you hand it in.
